New Moon and Solar Eclipse in Pisces: Realization, Love and a Clarion Call.
Hello friends. Since I have 5 planets in Pisces in my Solar Return chart this year, I have been waiting for these incoming energies with high interest and anticipation. To simply call them “psychic” is an underestimation, yet it’s a good place to start. To start, I have explored the nature of Pisces energy itself: sensitive, loving, inspired, artistic and spiritually connected – all the realm of its planetary ruler: Neptune. The shadow can be equally as fierce: addiction, the “victim” trip to its extreme, identity crisis, gullibility, confusion, drama, despair.
I wish I was like you, easily amused. Find my nest of salt, everything is my fault. I’ll take all the blame, aqua seafoam shame. – All Apologies, Kurt Cobain (Sun, Mercury, Venus and Saturn in Pisces.)
Pisces is one of the natural “empaths” of the Zodiac, with everything that implies. A low vibration and/or dysfunctional environment is of particular danger to Pisces, as they naturally flow and adapt to it accordingly. They may come across as people pleasing for this, but in many cases they are simply trying to survive.
There is also another strong side of Pisces that my wise astrologer friend calls the “Gangsta Fish.” Two legendary and apt examples are Elizabeth Taylor and Lou Reed, both “survivors” to the extreme; yet the sensitive, wise and charitable side traveled equally with both of them throughout their unusual and exceptional lives.
Anyone who has a heart, wouldn’t want to turn around and break it. And anyone who ever played the part, he wouldn’t want to turn around and fake it. – Lou Reed, Sweet Jane, 1970
It’s also important to mention one of my personal heroes and spiritual mentors, Edgar Cayce (1877-1945.) Cayce like Cobain, also had Sun, Mercury, Venus and Saturn in Pisces. Pisces energy when spiritualized to its full potential has the qualities of the great seer, the holy man/woman, Priest/ess and wizard. I have been shown the Cayce has had countless lifetimes in all of these roles, which is also why his “lifestream” outside of the body is so powerful. This is usually only seen with highly realized Buddhist Rinpoches, so this is another way in which he continues to uniquely influence the physical world.
It is not uncommon for people with strong Pisces energy in their natal charts to be beleaguered by health issues; both the commonly diagnosable and/or more intangible or esoteric. There are several reasons for this, but mostly from what I have observed in my own astrological and healing work it boils down to personal karma and/or empath-related illness by actually mirroring the environment or “taking things on” from others. This is why solid boundaries are vital for Piscean natives, although they may not exactly come to them naturally or easily. Martyrdom can be a major karmic issue for both Pisces and Virgo energies, which though opposite on the wheel carry several similarities.
So what does this big Pisces lesson have to do with the New Moon/Eclipse IK? Well, actually quite a lot. On 2/26 we will have the Sun and Moon in contact with the South Node (collective karma) and Neptune. This is a major influx of this energy; both the shadow and light sides of it.
This New Moon in many respects will feel more like a Full; as it will be more concerned with wrapping things up, especially things brought to light during the Lunar eclipse on 2/10. With so much Neptune influence afoot, clear and healthy boundaries will be vital and of the essence. The potential for inspiration, psychic vision and direct spiritual contact through channeling and/or telepathy will also be unusually high.
As I usually do, I connected with the New Moon energies themselves and asked what their message was. It was one all-inclusive and perfectly appropriate one at that: LOVE. Love of ourselves, each other and blessed Gaia herself. At the end of the day, that’s the mojo that’s really getting it done. As the scripture reminds us, we can use all manner of fancy language and have great tools, but if we don’t have love, we are in a deficit.
When consulting the Sabian Symbols it is a common Practice to round up to the higher number, but this time in my estimation its all about the 8th degree. We have a Mars/Uranus conjunction which brings in the power to create CHANGE. Jupiter will be opposed to Eris in the week leading up to this event, which brings awareness to women’s rights and issues which is certainly timely right now.
It is clear that the “evolutionary crisis” is already upon us, with so many pressing issues at the moment as the old guard (Pluto in Capricorn) continues to butt heads and joust for superiority with a more egalitarian, new paradigm view (Uranus in Aries.)
PHASE 338 (PISCES 8°): A GIRL BLOWING A BUGLE. KEYNOTE: A call to participation in the service of the race, as an evolutionary crisis approaches.
This symbolic picture presents another aspect of the emotional relationship between the individual and the collectivity of human beings. It can also be related to the old feminist movement or the present women’s liberation. In traditional symbolism the woman refers more specifically to the biological and psychic aspect of human life; she is seen primarily as the mother, and/or the intuitive or “psychic” type of person. A new race of human beings may well be slowly unfolding some of its potential of consciousness and fulfillment. The individual who envisions this evolutionary development “sounds the call.” He or she is both seer-herald and mutant. In that sense such a human being is both an individual true to his original nature and a dedicated person — dedicated to the future he or she holds in latency as does a seed in mutation.
At this third stage of the sixty-eighth five-fold sequence the two preceding phases blend in a new form of consecration of the individual to the Whole. Tomorrow acts through today; it SUMMONS men to rebirth. – Dane Rudhyar
There are so many beautiful songs that I could have chosen for Pisces energy, but this one it is. Profound and sweet with just the right touch of the weird, it perfectly suits.
Do you realize you have the most beautiful face? Do you realize that we’re floating in space? You realize that life goes fast. It’s hard to make the good things last. You realize the sun doesn’t go down, it’s just an illusion caused by the world spinning round. – Flaming Lips
Happy New Moon Eclipsing friends and remember to keep it cosmic!
NOTE: The New Moon/Solar Eclipse in Pisces is 2/26 at 6:58 am PST/9:58 am EST. (This is maximum eclipse time. It will be visible up to two hours prior.)
